The Starfish split in swimming action Thursday night with Blackford. The girls won with a score of 95-55, while the boys lost with a score of 99-76. Overall, the swimmers did very well and saw some impressive time drops.
All three A relays for the Lady Starfish were victorious. The A medley relay was comprised of Addisyn Hunley, Maggie Nussbaum, Hannah Neuenschwander, and Isabel VonGunten; the A 200 free relay consisted of Claire Burson, Neuenschwander, Aubri Gerber, and VonGunten; and the A 400 free relay was made up of Hunley, Nussbaum, Gerber, and Burson.
Individual first place winners for the girls were Claire Burson in the 200 and 500 freestyle, Isabel VonGunten in the 50 and 100 free, Kami Fulford in diving, Addisyn Hunley in the backstroke, and Maggie Nussbaum in the breaststroke.
Second place winners for the Lady Starfish were Aubri Gerber in the 50 free and backstroke, Hannah Neuenschwander in the butterfly, and Addisyn Hunley in the 100 free.
The boys A medley relay, A 200 free relay, and the B 400 free relay all got second place. The medley relay was consisted of Zach Herman, Curtis Sprunger, Alec Neuenschwander, and Blaine Harruff; the 200 free relay was comprised of Isaac Gorrell, Aidan VonGunten, Race Anderson, and Trey Lehman; and the 400 free relay was made up of Nate White, Blaine Duff, Blaine Harruff, and Colin Alberson.
Only two boys earned a first place finish. Those swimmers were Aidan VonGunten in the 100 free and Colin Alberson in the 500 free.
Second place finishes for the boys were swam by Colin Alberson in the 200 free, Aidan VonGunten in the IM, Blaine Harruff in diving, Zach Herman in the butterfly, Trey Lehman in the backstroke, and Curtis Sprunger in the breaststroke.
The Starfish will be back in action Friday night as they participate in the Allen County Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championship Meet at Jay County. The meet will have a start time of 5 pm, with diving taking place first.
