The day started with Grant Besser on the hill for the Starfires in game 1 at Northeastern. On this day, Grant would set a school record for the number of strikeouts in the game with 21! In addition to this incredible feat, he also surpassed the school record for most career strikeouts. 269 was the record but now Grant’s career total sits at 285. In addition to his work on the mound he had a single, double, and home run at the plate to help the Starfires win game 1. Nic Stuber, Joe Stuber, Mark Clary, and Keagan Yoder all collected multiple hits in game 1.
Game 2 was a little different story. It was a back and forth game between the Knights and the Starfires until South Adams broke free with 9 runs in the 5th inning. Grant Besser and Nic Stuber each homered for the Starfires. Grant Besser, Nic Stuber, Joe Stuber, Collin Shafer, and Keagan Yoder all had multiple hits in game 2. Adam Besser picked up the win in game 2 working 4 innings.
The Starfires improve to 24-2 on the season and travel to DeKalb on Monday to wrap up the regular season.
