South Adams got up early on Jay County with 10 runs in the first but Jay County bounced back in the bottom of the 1st inning with a 5 spot making it 10-5 after 1. Neither team’s starting pitcher made it out of the 1st. The rest of the game was a battle of the bullpens. Besser came in for the Starfires and Hare for the Patriots. The Starfires jumped back in the 2nd inning by putting up 3 runs of their own. Jay County was still not done and scored 2 runs in the bottom half. The Starfires struck back with 2 runs in the 3rd but this time the Patriots were held scoreless in the bottom half of the frame. Again the Starfire bats came alive scoring 4 runs in the 4th inning. Jay County got 1 back making it 19-8 at the end of 4 innings. The Starfires tacked one more run on in the 5th making it 20-8 and that’s how it ended.
Grant Besser finished the game with 10 strikeouts in addition to going 3-3 at the plate with a double, homerun, and 4 RBIs. Nic Stuber had 2 hits to go along with 3 RBI and Joe Stuber had 2 hits as well which included 5 RBIs.
The Starfires are now 14-1 on the season and 3-0 in ACAC play.
