SA Growth Under Coach Grant Moser
Coach Grant Moser has only been the head coach of the Starfires for 2 years, but judging by how much this team has improved, it’s hard to believe. Coming from a 1-9 regular season record last year, the Stars had a lot to prove this fall. With the guidance of Coach Moser, the stars have earned a 5-4 regular season this year, a win against the #1 team in the State (Woodlan) and another trip to the sectional championship this Friday.
Coach Moser doesn’t just teach his players offense and defense, he teaches them life skills. When I talked with Coach Moser he told me his players are to learn 4 core values: Character, Community, Leadership, and Excellence. These values can help make the difference between a 1-9 record and a 5-4 record.
When I asked Moser what the difference was between this year and last year’s success he replied, “The Maturity and Leadership of our Senior class has grown tremendously over the course of this year. It’s really special to see these guys buying in, playing together, and believing in each other. They love football but they love each other even more and that shows on the field.”
We can all agree Coach Moser has turned this football program into something much more special than Friday night lights. He has turned it into a brotherhood between players, and this Friday night hopefully will prove that under the guidance of Coach Moser, the Stars will be Sectional Champions once again.
